I don’t exaggarate if I say that Sony is supported mainly by the PlayStation branch at the moment. To make more profit in the end, CEO Kazuo Hirai plans to restructure the company, and he has a plan for it. His aim is to 25-fold the profits, so the PlayStation products, Sony Pictures and the camera sensors will receive a bigger focus.
He also plans to either spin off, or even sell the smartphone and TV branches, as Samsung and Apple are leading those markets, and he thinks it’s a waste of money for them – the market is simply too big. As PlayStation is their successful hardware out ther at the moment, it’s actually making sense. The goal is to get 4.2 billion dollars as profit for the 2017/18 years. After seven years of losses, it’s a big aim, but good luck for them!
