The home turf is always giving a minor boost – this is absolutely a fitting statement for both Sony and Nintendo, because quite honestly, Microsoft‘s consoles barely stand a chance to get a foothold in Japan, while even the PS Vita TV can sometimes get the better of the Xbox sales.
Tides have turned for the PS4 though, because unlike previous debuts, the Japanese audience wasn’t the first in line, but in fact, the last ones in order to buy the current-gen console. This means that sales-wise they are lagging a bit behind, but there’s no reason to be ashamed of: over 1.1 million units have been sold in that country so far. Even the PS3 has nice sales. It’s worth checking out how this year, there has been an average 15-16 thousand PS4s sold per week. Not bad…
And there’s still games expected to boost sales to come in the near future, like FF Type-0 HD or Bloodborne, so soon expect Sony to announce that PS4 has crossed the 20 million mark…
