One of the biggest surprise announcements on this year’s E3 was the revival of Shenmue. It’s even supported by gamers financially, as Yu Suzuki – the father of this franchise – needs our help in order to make this game happen.
So far, Shenmue 3 has received four million dollars, which is already double the amount of the original requirements… and there’s still two weeks left to pledge on Kickstarter. It might eventually hit five million by the end of the campaign!
There’s one issue with it though: this money doesn’t look that much, to be honest. Shenmue 2 had a budget of 70 (that is definitely a typo, SEVENTY) million dollars. and it was almost 15 years ago! Sure, it’s likely that Sony will step in to fund the costs – as seen with Capcom’s Street Fighter V, which will also hit the PlayStation 4 and the PC as Shenmue 3 -, but we don’t know the final budget. The game has to be out by the end of 2017. Maybe Sony will support Suzuki and his crew from the PlayStation 4’s profit?
