Mirror’s Edge Catalyst – New details surfaced [VIDEO]

PlayStation Access presented a brand new video about the upcoming Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, and in it, the senior producer of the game, Sarah Jansson said a few new details.

For example, she said that the entire City of Glass will be able to be discovered right from the get go for us, and this applies to those underground tunnels as well. There will be also new opportunities, like environmental puzzles, races between point A and point B and such. DICE won’t really tie our hands, so we can move on with our own pace in the story as well. (The guys and gals are really busy at DICE though: they are also working on Battlefront right now!)
There will be a new combat system focusing on melee as Faith will not be able to use guns. “Faith will fight, but she doesn’t kill.

Now the fighting is more of an extension of the movement. It builds on the flow. It fits a lot better with the game mechanics. When Faith is in flow, when she stitches together move after move without failing and keeps her momentum going, she’s actually invulnerable to bullets. That can keep her out of harm’s way. It’s only when she stops that she can get hurt.” – said Jansson.

Sounds interesting, we’ll see on February 23 how it turns out.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
