Resolutiion war! This year’s Call of Duty game, Treyarch’s Call of Duty Black Ops is getting involved too in throwing the resolution around the platforms it’s getting released on. Eurogamer ran tests of the multiplayer beta on all three platforms and in the end, the Xbox One came out in the third place.
Although Microsoft’s console keeps the 60 frames per second quite nicely even during bigger action scenes, it’s because the game has given up a higher resolution for better performance. On the „green” console, the game runs on 900p. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 has native 1080p and the PC can even run Treyarch’s game on 4K. What about the PS4’s framerate? It runs a bit slower, because it doesn’t keep the stable 60 fps, but during the tests, it never dropped under 50 frames per second.
Both consoles have the same quality of visuals, so the assets, textures and shadows are seemingly on the similar level.
Call of Duty Black Ops III will launch on November 6 on PS4, XB1, PS3, X360 and PC.
