It’s not even been a week since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (which turned out to have an unfinished story, as the last mission, including the real ending, was cut entirely – also, Kojima’s name shows up at least a hundred times during the game, no joke) has been released. Unsurprisingly, there is a huge demand for it, as Konami have shipped three million copies of the game to the shelves. However, this doesn’t mean that they sold that many copies, but it still shows that Hideo Kojima’s Konami-finale is hugely popular, as well as Konami having set high sales expectations for the game too… that makes sense, because the game needed several tens of millions of dollars.
As this is a multiplatform title – it’s out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC -, we can definitely expect some serious numbers. We have no sales data as of right now, but honestly, we would not be surprised if Konami publishes some of that later this week. It’s just a question of time that The Phantom Pain crosses the ten million line.
