Electronic Arts announced that Star Wars Battlefront‘s beta was a major success a few weeks ago. This was confirmed by a small number: the beta, which was available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, was downloaded by 9.5 million players. We can’t really compare it to anything though…
Destiny’s 2014 beta was confirmed to have 4.6 million players last year, but then, Activision did not announce any numbers about this year’s Call of Duty Black Ops III beta, which was touted as the most successful PlayStation 4 beta up to now.
There are other numbers confirmed for this beta: we played a total of 1.6 million minutes, which would be around three thousand years played. In this time frame, you could watch the original Star Wars trilogy around 4.2 million times. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader were each spawned over 5.9 million times. Vader’s force choke kill was used 1.3 million times total. One more number: 6 million players reached level 5, so they all got through the level gate, pretty much.
The game is out on November 17 in the US and November 19 in Europe, but dear EA: of course there will be a big interest in a free, open beta of any game, if there are no restrictions on getting it to work!
