Previously, we were talking about how DiRT Rally – which was in Steam’s Early Access program back then for several months – is very likely to receive a console port, although Codemasters never officially announced this. Now that the game is done and available on Steam properly, the realistic rally game (which costs around 28 USD at the moment) is officially announced as in development for consoles!
We also know about the release date of the PlayStation 4/Xbox One port of DiRT Rally: it’s going to be available from April 5, 2016. From the things we have seen so far, it’s very good – we believe that Codemasters has set the standards very high for the rivals. Milestone (Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo) and Kylotonn (WRC 6 – it’s unlikely that the World Rally Championship license won’t be used in 2016) will have to try their hardest to get close to DiRT Rally’s quality.
The console port has to provide two things: a high framerate – this genre of games require quick reaction times after all – and the support of many, if not most available steering wheels for the consoles, because many players prefer to play racing/driving games using them. Everything else is given to succeed.
I marked it on my Calendar!
