Diablo. Warcraft II. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. Overwatch. Even if Blizzard Entertainment mainly develops for PC, the PlayStation consoles also received several titles over the past two decades.
The team formed as Silicon & Synapse back on February 8, 1991, by Frank Pearce, Allen Adham and Michael Morhaime. Their early works were mainly just ports of games to other platforms, but their star began to rise in 1994. They renamed themselves to Chaos Studios for a short time before settling as Blizzard. At the end of this year, they broke through with Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. In 1996, Blizzard acquired Condor Games (renaming them to Blizzard North) and thus, Diablo launches under their name. Diablo reached the PS1 in the spring of 1998. Warcraft II hit the „grey box” in 1997. After these games, Blizzard began to concentrate on PC gaming and with World of Warcraft, they broke the bank! This MMO still receives expansions. They also created Starcraft, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.
Later, in the autumn of 2013, Diablo III launched on PS3 and X360. 2014 August: PS4 and X1 ports – this date also applies to the console arrival of the expansion, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
While Overwatch, an upcoming multiplayer FPS is developed by Blizzard, we wish them the best and even more successful games in the future!
