DICE featured a discussion between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro – you can see this event below the article. Since then, the Kojima-del Toro-Reedus triumvirate has come together yet again but without the involvement of Konami. The team is now doing something under Sony‘s wings. Kojima had an interview to Gamestop – he mentioned a few interesting things in it.
Kojima originally planned to take a sabbatical but he thought that not creating something would make him rusty, so he decided against this idea. There’re no limits imposed on him at the moment, so he can do whatever he want under Sony‘s crew. He also mentioned his former employer, Konami: while he admitted that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was about six months late, he tried to keep the budget under control. However, Kojima himself was responsible for the trailers, posters and box arts, and as a producer-director simultaneously, he had to consider the financial limitations as well.
Unless Sony starts to hold him accountable, there should be no problem between the Japanese company and Kojima.
