Sony published the lists of the best-selling games on the PlayStation Store for all the platforms. We can clearly say that the winner on the PS4 is not the title we expected to get the most sales. It’s not Far Cry Primal. It’s not Street Fighter V either, although it was predicted to pull some big numbers. Who won then? Let’s take a look.
PlayStation 4:
- Firewatch
- Far Cry Primal
- Rocket League
- Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
- Street Fighter V
- Need for Speed
- Madden NFL 16
- Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Yep, Campo Santo‘s game, Firewatch managed to reap the best selling award for February! It beat Far Cry Primal, Rocket League, Naruto SUNS 4 and even Street Fighter V, too. All new games finished behind, so the victor is indeed a surprise on the current Sony platform.
PlayStation 3:
- Need for Speed Most Wanted
- Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition
- Army of Two The Devil’s Cartel
- Dark Souls II
- Watch Dogs
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
- Battlefield 4
- Grand Theft Auto V
- NBA 2K16
- EA Sports FIFA 16
The newest releases weren’t able to sell the most. Most Wanted is from 2012. GTA V is from 2013. Watch Dogs is from 2014. On prev-gen, Call of Duty Black Ops III was higher than on the PS4 but still not enough to win.
PS4 Add-Ons:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Awakening
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Season Pass
- Fallout 4 Season Pass
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited – ESO Plus
- Dying Light: The Following
- Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack 2
- Tom Clancy’S Rainbow Six Siege – Season Pass
- Bloodborne The Old Hunters
- Destiny: The Taken King
- Rocket League – Back to the Future Car Pack
As the first Call of Duty Black Ops III DLC launched in early February (the Awakening), launching first on the PlayStation 4, it’s no surprise it sold the most! Fallout 4’s place is also understandable: people bought it before the price hike initiated by Bethesda occurred in March.
PS3 Add-Ons:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II Nuketown Zombies Map
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II Vengeance
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II Apocalypse
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II Revolution
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising
- Mass Effect 3: Citadel
- Mass Effect 3: Leviathan
- Mass Effect 3: From Ashes
- Destiny: The Taken King
- Mass Effect 3: Omega
Two games ruled this list: CoD Black Ops II and Mass Effect 3. There is no extra content of Black Ops III on the previous console generation…
PlayStation Vita:
- Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth
- Borderlands 2
- Breath of Fire III (PSP)
- Soul Sacrifice Delta
- Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z
- Persona 4 Golden
- Sword Art Online -Hollow Fragment-
- J-Stars Victory VS+
- Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition
- Sword Art Online: Lost Song
The new Digimon game came, saw and conquered. It’s both surprising and sad to see a PSP (!!!) game finish in third place. This result not only shows the lack of content for the Vita but it also means players like to play older games, too.
PlayStation Classics
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy
- Star Wars Bounty Hunter
- Dark Cloud 2
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Twisted Metal: Black
- Dark Cloud
- Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Rogue Galaxy
Grand Theft Auto with a slice of Star Wars, Street Fighter, and Dark Cloud.
Firewatch‘s success presented that you don’t have to have an AAA title with a big budget to have your game as a bestseller. Congratulations, Campo Santo!
