Sony Pictures has confirmed on CinemaCon in Las Vegas that they are working on a new movie. We heard about it last summer already, but now, it is definitely in production.
We’re not talking about the Uncharted movie (will that ever be finished?) or The Last Of Us (that is more likely to happen than Uncharted), instead… it’s an Emoji movie. The plot synopsis is the following: „Inside your phone, there’s a secret world–and we enter through the text app where we discover Emoji Valley, where the industrious Emoji live and work. By the end of the first act, the characters discover that every smartphone app has a world to explore, thus leading to ample opportunities for other branding deals with real-world apps.” The writers are Anthony Leondis (Lilo & Stitch 2) and Eric Siegel (Men at Work)
According to The Wrap’s information, multiple app makers might promote (and participate in) the movie – Spotify is confirmed, and Facebook might also potentially pick the movie up.
It’s hitting cinemas in August 2017.
