MOVIE NEWS – Sometimes a movie star’s career is propelled from being a child star, but at times it doesn’t happen, and sometimes it goes to even worse. Former child star Joey Cramer, who is maybe best known for Flight of the Navigator, has been recently arrested on charges that he robbed a bank in Vancouver last week. He’s also been present regularly in Vancouver area courthouses for drug and fraud related charges.

In the mid-1980s, child actor Joey Cramer‘s career seemed to start well after being the main character in the popular movie Flight of the Navigator at the age of 13. Unfortunately, it’s been a long road since then, and the young actor’s career ended up taking a very different path. Today he is behind bars in a the prison of Vancouver. The Sunshine Coast Royal Mounted Police arrested the actor, 42, in connection with the April 28 robbery of a Scotiabank in Sechelt.

Coast Reporter reveals that the actor, who now goes by his full name, Deleriyes Joe Cramer, was arrested in the town of Gibsons on May 1, “Accused of robbery, disguise with the intent to commit an indictable offense, failing to stop for a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.”

The last two charges stem from an incident the day after the robbery when Cramer allegedly fled in a vehicle in Sechelt when an officer tried to stop him. Here’s what Cst Harrison Mohr with Sunshine Coast RCMP had to say in a statement regarding the arrest.

“Despite the fact that a disguise was used during the robbery, the suspect was quickly identified by some of our officers, who had recently dealt with him on an unrelated matter. We hope that the community feels safer now that the suspect has been apprehended.”

Joey Cramer made his feature film debut in 1984’s Runaway, where he played the son of Tom Selleck’s lead character. He went on to star in The Clan of the Cave Bear and Flight of the Navigator, which went on to become a cult classic after its theatrical run. He appeared in two episodes of Murder She Wrote later that year, and in a 1987 TV movie called Stone Fox. Aside from an uncredited role in the 1996 film It’s My Party; Joey Cramer hasn’t acted ever since.

After his acting days passed, Joey Cramer has been indeed regularly fixture in Vancouver area courthouses due to drug and fraud related charges. The Sunshine Coast RCMP issued an alert for Cramer in 2011 when he was wanted on fraud charges. Cramer is currently in custody and is set to appear in North Vancouver Provincial Court, May 10. Way back in 2012, it was reported that a Flight of the Navigator remake was happening. But that movie has yet to move forward.
