In 2013, Star Trek was a flop – Digital Extreme‘s game on the PS3, X360, and PC had issues, to say the least. However, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One isn’t going to receive it, although it would make more sense to port it over to the current consoles. (Not to mention that it would possibly be easier, too.) What’s coming?
A new game? No. Crpytic Studio‘s 2010 MMORPG, Star Trek Online is heading to the PS4 and X1. The console versions will include all the content, as well as an updated user interface to suit the controllers. The game’s engine is also going to receive a significant overhaul to make Star Trek Online something more suitable to the modern age instead of something that might have even been possible to run on a PS2. (The PC version will also get this update for free!)
There will be no a monthly fee; Star Trek Online will be a free-to-play title on consoles, too. We see multiple F2P and MOBA titles released on PS4/X1 – STO is a prime example of that.
