UPDATE: Two more videos surfaced about this year’s Formula-1 game adaptation, each showing a hot lap on a circuit.
The first video shows Dutchman teenager (and already Grand Prix-winner) Max Verstappen on the Austrian Red Bull Ring, the second one takes us to Silverstone, where Indonesian rookie Rio Haryanto runs a hot lap. (He couldn’t do that in the race, though: similar to his rookie team-mate, Mercedes-protegé Pascal Wehrlein, he spun out at Turn 1 on the drying circuit.)
Release day: August 19, target platforms: PS4, X1, PC.
ORIGINAL: A new season in Formula-1, a new game adaptation from Codemasters.
In multiplayer, all twenty-two drivers will be able to participate in the races. There will also be a warm-up lap to allow players to get used to the track conditions before the race starts. Before (and during) the start of the Grand Prix, we will have to set multiple things on our steering wheel, so we can either have a lightning fast start or get bogged down to play catch-up from the last place.
In the pit lane, we must control our speed, and time when to brake, otherwise we will get a five-second penalty for speeding. We can wait for five seconds before the pit crew changes our tires, or our race time will get slapped by that penalty after the race.
Lee Mather, the game’s main designer, says „We tried to create a game that is as close to reality as possible. We listened to the feedback from the community, and we were able to introduce the Safety Car, the Virtual Safety Car, the warm up lap, and many other new features that allow us to get even closer to the experience of an authentic race and offer more realism for players.”
The game’s out on August 19 on PS4, X1, and PC. The Limited Edition will have a Steelbook, and a career mode booster DLC to gain levels faster.
