Nintendo‘s reliving the golden age of the eighties and the nineties, and in the Nintendo Classic Mini project, the Mini NES is probably the first of the family members. It received a trailer that recreated the style from that era. The neon/color abuse also feels like Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon from a few years ago.
There’s also an image on Twitter that compares the original Nintendo Entertainment System and the Mini NES side by side. You can see how small the Mini version is, although it came with the cost of not having a cartridge slot.
Nintendo brings the Mini NES to the market in the middle of November with an aggressive approach: you cannot connect to the internet with it, you cannot replace the game line-up, and you can’t add your games either. The Big N still has a somewhat closed mentality, although they are opening up: they blasted the mobile market away with Pokémon Go, which just launched today in Japan.
