So far it seemed that the PlayStation 4 and the PC would receive Hello Games‘ product at the same time, but it’s confirmed that it will not happen.
If you own a PlayStation 4, don’t worry: you can still grab the game on August 9 or 10 (North American, European release dates), but the PC version will launch on Steam „only” on August 12. This slight delay means that the console owners will be able to discover more of the universe by the time the PC players can play their copy.
What about PlayStation Plus, though? Will we need a subscription to play the game? According to Sony’s reply in Game Informer, „PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online; however, you will need to connect to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas.”
The game is meant to be a single-player experience, don’t forget that, though. No Man’s Sky, which will only take six gigabytes on the Blu-ray disc, is likely to receive a day-one patch as well, but we have yet to see how much will we have to download before we can discover the universe.
