PlayStation Plus, which is necessary to play most PlayStation 4 titles online, receives a price hike in North America, but in a tricky fashion. Europe will probably be affected shortly as well.
So far, the service had a 50-dollar annual price. Sony will put a 10-dollar hike on it starting September 22, making the yearly subscription 60 dollars. The three-month subscription also sees its price lifted from 20 to 25 bucks. However, the monthly subscription price (10 dollars) stays the same. For PlayStation Plus, this is the first time it gets its price raised since its launch in 2010. If you have an active subscription, you will only have to pay more after September 22. Until then, you might find renewing your PS Plus membership before its price hike.
Sony says, „The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members. If you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before September 22, 2016.”
Hopefully, the price hike will allow us to change our PSN handle in the future, or at least get a two-step verification system…
