Titanfall’s creators, Respawn Entertainment, try one, recently not-so-popular approach with their latest game, Titanfall 2.
„Remember when buying a game got you everything? Another reason Titanfall 2 is different, no season pass needed… ” – said Respawn on Twitter.
As mentioned in a blog post, the developers do not want to split the players, so everyone who buys Titanfall 2 will get every update for free, regardless if it’s a new game mode or a new map. (The first map will be Angel City, remade from the first Titanfall game.) The pre-ordering will „only” get a three-day advantage to play the new map.
„Once you’ve purchased Titanfall 2, your investment includes a full single-player campaign, the full multiplayer maps, and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs.” – Respawn says.
Hopefully, there will be no microtransactions either – if Respawn and Electronic Arts pull this move off as well, then we can relive the past. For example, if you bought a game 11-12 years ago, you got it in its full form. Bringing this era back will be near impossible…
