The new Nintendo platform’s third-party support looks more and more devastating.
Mohammad Alavi has been Senior Designer on both Titanfall games, and he was one of the guests of the recent Drunk Tech episode on YouTube. (Yes, the title is serious: the participants all take drinks while chatting with each other.) When the host asked Alavi about the Switch, he reacted with this comment:
„I’m gonna tell you, I was excited about it because Nintendo’s been in such a niche market recently, like catering to the handheld and I’m gonna be honest with you, the kids. They’ve been so underpowered [regarding hardware] that they don’t have the support of third parties because they’re all making games for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And the Nintendo Switch is no different.” That’s already a harsh opinion, but Alavi went a step further when he was asked whether Respawn could port Titanfall 2 to the Switch or not:
„F__k no. No, you’re not going to be able to fit Titanfall 2. That’s the same Zelda for the Wii U [laugh].” The two quotes show up at about 12:50 in the video, before then, the three gentlemen react to the Switch reveal trailer.
How much chance does the Switch have in the long term? Wii feel like it’s going to be Wii U 2.0…
