The „futuristic Dark Souls” shows itself in an uncut format.
While the gameplay rolls, Adam Hetenyi, the head of game design at Deck13, talks about a few aspects of The Surge. We can see how we can loot our enemies after defeating them: you can chop their limbs to apply them to your exoskeleton. You will need them, as nano-technology-utilizing experiments and security robots will try to get rid of you, and they are tough nuts to crack.
During combat, you can pull off moves both horizontally and vertically, and you can also parry, jump, dodge, or duck. Meanwhile, Deck13 also gives a role to the survivors in the background: saving them can make them temporarily join you, and they can also reward you for completing their quests. The developers admitted that they need to balance these missions yet, and their ultimate goal is to make players go deeper in the complex.
The Surge drops in May on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
