The big N might be closing the first month of the Nintendo Switch positively.
GamesIndustry writes that according to research firm SuperData, the Nintendo Switch has sold 1.5 million consoles in its first week, going by the GfK and the Famitsu data. One third of the total is sold in the United States, and 360 thousand Switches were sold in Japan. Unsurprisingly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most popular launch title: 9 out of 10 customers have selected the new Zelda game to their Switch, and thus, the game has sold about 1.34 million copies on the new console/handheld hybrid alone.
Although Nintendo has not announced any official figures so far (only saying it’s their fastest selling platform), the initial goal of two million sales could be hit by the end of March. As Julian Eggebrecht, co-founder of Factor-5 (Star Wars Rogue Leader, Turrican) told German magazine Spieleveteranen that the development for the Switch, which is between the Wii U and the Xbox One performance-wise, is easier than for the PlayStation 4. Nintendo might be having a good run with the Switch after all.
