After reaching its goal on Kickstarter in three days and getting picked up by Square Enix, Battalion 1944 has caught a lot of people’s attention.
On VG247 we found the first gameplay video of the game, and despite being in pre-alpha state, we still got to see the Manor map in Team Deathmatch mode. Although the maps are far from being in complete form, the game doesn’t look and feel clunky or slow, which is a good sign.
Bulkhead, the developers, try to go for the old school style in gameplay, and including the strafe jump, which originally was just a glitch in the Unreal Engine, is another proof of their approach. In fact, you will have to strafe jump to reach a few areas here and there.
Don’t underestimate retro shooters, and Battalion 1944, set in World War II, is no exception either.
