After a thirteen-year break, Syberia is coming back!
It’s hard to imagine, but it is the truth: Syberia 2 was released in 2004, and Microids has had a tough time getting the third episode’s development going (they managed to finally announce it in 2012 with a 2014 release date, which they – obviously – could not manage to keep), but they ended up making Benoit Sokal’s project continue. Kate Walker and the Youkol tribe bids adieu to the pre-rendered backgrounds, as the adventure finally becomes a fully three-dimensional game for the first time in the franchise’s history. The video looks okay, and the ambiance is also acceptable, so that’s a good start.
It’s going to be interesting to see how one of the best adventure series of the 2000s can hold a candle to the modern gaming titles. The European release is April 20, and North America will receive the game on April 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch port will launch later this year.
