Katsuhiro Harada, the game’s producer, has talked about the game this week in multiple subjects.
To IGN, he said that he doesn’t know how the game would run on Microsoft’s Project Scorpio, as he doesn’t know much about the platform. Regarding the PlayStation 4, he said that the game looks and plays much better on the PlayStation 4 Pro than on the original console, and he hopes we will play his game on the PlayStation 4 Pro. Regarding the Switch, he doesn’t believe the port will happen any time soon, although technically, it wouldn’t be much of a challenge: Tekken 7 uses Unreal Engine 4, making it easy to use the engine’s Switch presets. He also said that he wasn’t able to acquire a Switch, so he doesn’t know the hardware’s capabilities. Sounds like a PR response…
To GameSpot, he revealed that he was always adamant on making cross-play possible between the three platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC), but to no avail. He did say that if Tekken 7 were made for a single console (knowing Tekken’s past, the PS4), cross-play with the PC would have been possible.
The game is out on June 2.
