Their ambassador for virtual reality has left the company.
Chet Faliszek has confirmed to GamesIndustry that he has left Valve after twelve years, as he felt that it was time to do something new. What was he doing under the guidance of Gabe Newell?
Chet Faliszek co-wrote storylines for the Half-Life series and Portal alongside fellow writers Erik Wolpaw and Marc Laidlaw (they both left Valve previous to Faliszek’s departure), and he also write the story for both Left 4 Dead and Left for Dead 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and was a writer for Dota 2 alongside Marc Laidlaw and Ted Kosmatka. Recently, he was the head of developer relations for Valve’s Vive VR, which means he acted as an ambassador for virtual reality.
The question is, is Valve still interested in virtual reality, or they just want to stick to Steam, DotA 2 and Counter Strike like they have been doing so recently? Speaking of Steam, you can see here how many requests are on Valve‘s customer support’s backlog. Most of them are regarding refund requests.
