The movie production company and the developer are against each other’s opinions.
Previously, we wrote about Thief is getting a cinematic adaptation, and its maker has hinted at a new game as well. Eidos Montreal‘s studio head had to grab his keyboard to respond to the rumors. Quoting David Anfossi: „Apparently we’re developing Thief 5 game! So now we have a title… We just have to build a team, a budget… Forget it!” – he also included a fake Thief 5 image to add salt to the injury.
It’s Straight Up Films’ turn – while Garrett may be ending up on the big screen, Eidos Montreal right now is busy with an Avengers game officially (and possibly the next Tomb Raider as well, seeing how Crystal Dynamics, the developers of the reboot, has also gone into work on Marvel-related games after the Square Enix-Disney/Marvel agreement), and they are unlikely to keep more games in development.
…we’d like a new Thief game, though.
