While there’s already a connection between the PlayStation 4/PC and the Xbox One/PC duo, it doesn’t look like there will be multiplayer between the two consoles.
Chris Charla has published an open letter in March 2016 regarding cross-play, and in it, he said that Microsoft is open to work together with other platforms. WCCFTech’s interview with Anton Yudintsev, the CEO of Gaijin, has also touched this subject. In case you don’t know Gaijin, they developed games such as Blades of Time, X-Blades, Star Conflict, War Thunder, and Crossout. Yudintsev said the following in the interview: „Crossout will not support cross-platform functionality. War Thunder unites PC and PS4, while Crossout will be available on Xbox One as well, and cross-platform between two different consoles is not possible.”
Rocket League, Tekken 7, GWENT – none of them managed to bring PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC under the same umbrella and it seems the status quo won’t change.
