Atari, the company behind 1983’s video game crash, is planning a return to compete with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.
Frédéric Chesnais, Atari’s current CEO and Chairman, said in an interview that the company is coming back to the consoles. The teaser video below seems to follow this notion, and it’s confirmed that the Atari Box will use PC technology (similarly to the PS4 and X1), and the design is almost complete, too. However, the hardware (with which they flopped big time the last time, the Jaguar…) needs games as well, but we don’t know what titles are going to be made for the system at the moment.
Since Chesnais’ entry, Atari, thanks to mobile games, has become profitable again, and the revival should be finally in full effect with a new console… if they don’t end up crashing the market again, then good luck, although they will be facing an enormous challenge!
