Elite Dangerous: A Bit Of Underhanded PlayStation VR-Insulting?

The game’s PlayStation 4 port is out (we already have a copy, review can be expected this week), but there are still question marks.

Elite’s creator and Frontier Developments’ CEO, David Braben, held a Reddit Ask Me Anything, mentioning a few subjects, including the PlayStation VR, which makes sense, as the PC version supports both the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift. „I’m a huge fan of VR and have been carefully following it from day one. The most important thing is it is a good experience, and we’re not there yet regarding the quality. It’s certainly something we’d like to consider, but the quality is vital,” Braben said. He also mentioned that frame rate and motion are key elements for a good VR experience. (And with that comment, he pretty much said the PlayStation VR is too weak to run his game properly.)

The PlayStation 4 Pro support isn’t complete yet – although there is an option to choose from Performance and Quality, the 4K resolution and HDR isn’t included yet. These may arrive at a later date.

Elite Dangerous is anything but elite on the PlayStation 4 at the moment.
