MOVIE NEWS – Uncharted‘s cinematic adaptation is slowly becoming the Duke Nukem of films…
Sure, if it ever hits cinemas around the world, we will stop calling it as such, but it has been barely progressing in the past years. So far, all we know that Tom Holland (Spider-Man) will be the young Nathan Drake, Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Night at the Museum) will be the director, and Joe Carnahan will be the script writer.
Levy told the following to Entertainment Weekly: „For me, it was the fact that the game is awesome–the spirit of the game, with its action set-pieces, its imaginative settings, and above all the kind of rogue swagger of Nathan. Those are things that I think make a great movie.”
Carnahan previously described it as an anti-Indiana Jones film, and it is not going to be a cinematic adaptation of any former games, as it would be difficult: „”Holland kind of put it really succinctly in saying, if we do the origin of Drake that is something that we haven’t seen as the plot of game 1, 2, 3, 4. We’ve seen a snippet of an origin of Sully and Drake meeting in the past, but here’s maybe an opportunity to do a treasure-hunting action movie with attitude, a protagonist and chapter of the protagonist’s life that you can’t get for free at home by just playing the game.”
The problem is that the Uncharted movie was announced in 2009…
