Naughty Dog lost a valuable person.
Bruce Straley was one of the essential people behind the Jak, the Uncharted and The Last of Us titles during development. In the case of the latter two series, he was the director for the most part. On Naughty Dog‘s blog, he announced that he is departing.
He spent eighteen years with the team, but after three bigger projects (The Last of Us and its Left Behind expansion, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End), he „found his energy focusing in other directions.” In 1999, he started out as a texture artist for Crash Team Racing, and since then, he climbed the ranks in Naughty Dog.
Going by his blog post, Straley has nothing else to announce at the moment, so all we can say is best of luck to him in his future endeavors, hopefully in the game industry. (We have seen some weird moves this year already: JP Kellams moved from PlatinumGames to work on Madden for EA Sports…)
