The firmware, which was beta tested for weeks (and causing issues if installing the meanwhile released 4.74), is now available for everybody!
Gematsu has listed the entire changelog, which we edited down into proper text format. You can now add users of your PS4 as family members (up to seven), to manage your child’s account information and to restrict PS4 features. To add family members, select (Settings) > [Parental Controls/Family Management]. You can configure parental control settings for each child even with a PC or smartphone.
You can now follow anyone, not just verified accounts. Select (Follow) on a person’s profile screen, and their activities and broadcasts will appear in [What’s New]. You automatically follow your Friends, but you have the option to unfollow them. You can now choose who can follow you and who can see your follow list. Select (Settings) > [Account Management] > [Privacy Settings], and then configure each setting.
(Custom Lists) has been added to (Friends), which helps you to organize them and choose players to send messages or game invitations to. You can now view (Notifications) on the quick menu – notifications’ colors can be changed, and you can disable them during video playback as well. New system languages (Czech, Indonesian, Hungarian, Romanian, Vietnamese, Greek, Thai) arrived.
PlayStation 4 Pro owners can stream to Twitch in 1080p/60fps. PlayStation VR users can see the spectator comments on the headset screen, and they can also enjoy Blu-ray Disc and DVD content in virtual surround sound when they connect headphones to PlayStation VR.
These are decent reasons to install the new firmware, aren’t they?
