We could say that this is the best of the rest, but that’s not true!
During the pre-show to the Paris Games Week conference, there were many announcements. One of them was Guacamelee 2 (which kicked off the program), and Drinkbox’ Metroidvania game is coming soon. Super Chicken!
Sleeping Dogs! Oh, wait, no. The Hong Kong Massacre does play in the same setting, though. Another announcement during the PGW pre-show, Captain Rogue Production’s and Vreski’s game is something like a top-down view Hardboiled. The game’s out next year.
The Voxel Agents’ game, The Gardens Between, is coming to the PlayStation 4, as well as PC/Mac/Linux. Playing with time is possible, albeit not in Life is Strange-style. „Control the flow of time, forwards and backward, as Arina and Frendt move through dreamlike environments peppered with curious objects. The pair will manipulate the world around them to alter how objects move through time. Solve puzzles to ignite constellations and illuminate defining moments in their friendship.
Explore an imaginative wonderland filled with abstract environments and rife with symbolism and hidden meaning. As Arina and Frendt’s passage progresses, their story, steeped in themes of childhood and what it means to grow up, will unfold,” the press release says. Out next year.
Loco Roco 2 Remastered was already announced, but now, the colorful game received a release date as well. The 4K-supporting (on PlayStation 4 Pro, of course) game is launching on December 9.
The Sims 4‘s DLCs got a trailer. The game, which is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 17, got a trailer to show which DLCs will be part of the console port. We don’t understand it, let’s move on…
Tennis World Tour was another pre-show announcement. While we do appreciate tennis games on PlayStation 4, the visuals look like they are one generation behind. The game launches next Spring.
The PlayStation VR wasn’t ignored, either! The first announcement came from Disruptive Games (who helped developing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5…), whose game, Megalith, is similar in visuals to No Man’s Sky, is described by the press release as such: „Megalith is an action-packed hero shooter that transforms you into a titan, letting you use your massive size and firepower to compete with others in a quest to become a god. Immersed in the conflict of an ancient world, you will need to use a combination of teamwork and skill to survive. Fight for supremacy on the fields of battle using free locomotion, strategy, and destructible environments. Define your style of combat by customizing your abilities so that you can vanquish your foes and push your disciples to victory.” It will launch next year as a timed exclusive.
Tribetoy threw Bow to Blood into the PlayStation VR hat, but it seems to have sat between two chairs. While the narration and the background music seems to point the game towards children, the gameplay has ship combats. Try to figure this approach out; we couldn’t do it…
Ultrawings VR flies into Sony’s virtual reality headset, as it already did it on the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. „Ultrawings is the first aerial-themed, open-world game where you’ll pilot multiple aircraft to complete a variety of missions across an island-themed world.” Expect to fly through rings!
Survios’ Invector made a mistake during the show: its trailer said it was for the PlayStation VR (and Final Fantasy XV’s Episode Ignis trailer did the same thing, lol), but this rhythm game, featuring Avicii, is actually for PlayStation 4. It’s an Amplitude clone… or should we say Audiosurf?
