Will we see similar atrocities on PlayStation as well if Monster Hunter World becomes successful?
Greatfire.org analyses how the „Great Chinese Firewall” blocks websites on the Internet, and it looks like steamcommunity.com has been 96% blocked by the censors since December 15. Only a measly 4% remains.
Steam’s store is still available in China, but everything else is blocked. Tencent could be the reason behind the blockage: while they started their digital store (called WeGame), there has been a massive increase in Chinese Steam users due to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds… which will be published by Tencent in China.
It looks like the Chinese Communist Party uses the usual „let’s help the domestic company against the foreigners” method with Steam as well… and the local company is easy to be censored.
