Nioh: Its Director Wants It To Be Bigger… Is A Sequel In Development?

A quick industry overview.

The latest Dengeki PlayStation magazine (it’s published in Japan) mentions multiple tidbits. One of them is Yosuke Hayashi’s from Koei Tecmo: one of the directors of Nioh wants the game to be bigger and to keep an eye out on Team Ninja. There might be a full-fledged sequel in development.

Level-5 will turn twenty in 2018. Akihiro Hino, the head of the company revealed that they would commemorate this anniversary with a „major title.” It’s not going to be Ni No Kuni II, as that launches in March in PlayStation 4 and PC. Our guess would be Dark Cloud. (One of their first games on PS2 in 2000.)

Finally, Kojima has hinted at an announcement for 2018. We will discuss this subject separately. Still, a new Nioh sequel wouldn’t be a good idea, unless it’s in development for thirteen years! (The original announcement of Nioh was back in 2004…)

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
