Capcom is already preparing a bit of cross-promotion with its latest game, which seems to be a major hit at the moment.
Capcom‘s announcement reveals that the franchise has hit its highest point. Monster Hunter World, which launched on Friday, managed to ship five million (!) units, including digital downloads! For the first time in the series, the game had a global simultaneous launch, which might have helped Capcom’s game to reach this result.
Siliconera also writes about how Capcom will hold the Monster Hunter World Kariou Playoff event in seven locations in Japan – the fastest hunters will win. The company also wants a film adaptation, as they’d like to have more than an attraction called Monster Hunter: The Real, which can be found in Universal Studios Japan.
Capcom also announced that there will be a Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition event where players can get armor sets to turn their character into Ryu or Sakura from the fighting game. (You can only apply the complete armor set!) In a few weeks (from February 16), if you have a Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition save file, you’ll get a special mission in Monster Hunter World called „Down the Dark, Muddy Path.” Completing it will net you Street Fighter V tickets, which, along with the required ingredients, will get you the Ryu armor at Smithy. If you don’t own SFV and/or own an Xbox One, you’ll get the event at a later date – as Capcom says, „everyone will be able to fight for their Ryu set.”
Hadouken? Shoryuken? We’ll quote Capcom again: „these sweet, iconic premium gestures, along with Chat Stamp sets, will be available for purchase for everyone on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace. […]
