100? Nah, said Mavericks, which was formerly known as Project X.
It looks like the 100 player approach seen in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds isn’t enough for some – Automaton Games thought that they not only crank up the player limit to four hundred but also tune the graphics significantly. However, seeing that they only released a teaser trailer with no gameplay included whatsoever, we have to wait to see how the graphics will change (or get worse…). The playable area will be 144 square kilometers… and the game will also use the SpatialOS technology.
So, PC players have something to keep an eye on, as the game’s website says that Mavericks: Proving Grounds will be launching in 2018. The extreme graphics will also likely require the player to have a beefy enough PC to provide a stable frame rate, especially to get the teaser trailer’s visual level. It will also contain a city: The Capital will allow players to exchange resources, or create clans, amongst many other activities. How much time will we need to finish just ONE match, though?
