After Dynasty Warriors, another Omega Force franchise confuses us with its numbering…
Dynasty Warriors is one number ahead compared to Japan, its domestic market (as a spinoff game got the number 2 in the West), and Warriors Orochi is also in the same situation – Musou Orochi: Rebirth of the Demon Lord in Japan was retitled Warriors Orochi 2 in North America and Europe, which means the new announcement for Warriors Orochi 4 is actually 3 in Japan. It’s complicated, let’s move on…
Koei Tecmo and Omega Force originally announced the game for Japan yesterday. It marks the first time the franchise gets a new numbered installment since 2011, as Warriors Orochi 3 (2…) came out seven years ago. They said the game will hit the domestic market this year. They topped off the announcement early this morning by saying that North America and Europe will both get the game in 2018, too.
What platforms is it in development for? We have no idea, they didn’t announce those… but Warriors Orochi combines the characters from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, which means you should prepare for the musou genre. In other words: it’s going to be a hack’n’slash title with thousands of enemies in your way… until you find a boss, where strategic attacks and good timing will be required to win.
