GameInformer‘s, latest interview regarding Insomniac Games‘ PlayStation 4-exclusive, focused mainly on these two characters.
Bryan Intihar, Spider-Man‘s creative director, destroyed rumors about Miles being in the Spidey suit in the game: „This is a Peter Parker story. That is not Miles in that suit, which is the question everyone keeps asking me on Twitter.” So we’ll control Peter Parker (for the most part) in New York City.
Parker has been the Spider-Man since the age of fifteen, and eight years have passed since then, which means he is twenty-three years old in the game, which will happen during the weeks of October. He’s going to have some problems that the people in their twenties usually have: as he’s working for an undisclosed company as a scientist (Insomniac keeps it as a secret – could it be Oscorp, or maybe even Stark Industries…?), he has relationship issues (Mary Jane), late bills and such.
During the game, several characters will have minor visual changes (clothing, hair) to show how time passes, and no matter what we do, we won’t be liked by everyone: while some citizens will be our fans, others will look at us as a menace, probably because they subscribed to the Daily Bugle, whose editor-in-chief would be one J. Jonah Jameson.
Spider-Man starts with Peter apprehending Kingpin but seeing how the script has over 400 thousand words (which is roughly 3333 pages), there will be a lot more than we know at the moment. Christos Gage, who has been one of the key people behind the script of the Spider-Man comics, said the following: „I don’t want to jinx it, but I feel like we’re on the right track. I am hoping that what fans will feel like when they play this game is a sense of, ‘Finally!’ I don’t mean that in any disrespect to any past Spider-Man games, but I am hoping Spider-Man fans will play and say, ‘Oh wow. I feel like Spider-Man. This is great; this feels right.’”
Spider-Man will arrive on September 7, as a PlayStation 4-exclusive.
