Square Enix isn’t giving hopeful signs…
Star Ocean Fes was held on May 20, which didn’t have a single word about Star Ocean 6. During the stream (which you can find here) if you can understand Japanese), Shuichi Kobayashi, a Square Enix producer, said the following:
„I understand, I know what else everyone would like to hear, but speaking frankly, it’s not that simple to make. If it could be made without tri-Ace, then surely it would be possible. But that’s not the case, is it? I’m saying please wait a little longer. Won’t you please wait a little longer? Please keep faith in us as we continue with Anamnesis. I’ll also do my best. That’s all I can say today, but I believe that everyone’s support will empower us to work hard.”
Star Ocean: Anamnesis launched in December 2016 in Japan – it’s a smartphone game. The RPG franchise’s last console installment was Star Ocean (5): Integrity and Faithlessness, which launched on PlayStation 4 in June 2016. tri-Ace is the developer of the franchise. As he mentioned the mobile game, it’s likely that they focus on that until it stops rolling in money…
