After the „minification” of the NES and the SNES, Nintendo is half-officially working on the N64 Classic. Sony hasn’t done anything similar… yet.
John Kodera, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO talked with Japanese publication MantanWeb, from which PlayStation LifeStyle grabbed the segment that is important for us: „Regarding a reprint edition of PlayStation (PS), Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE)’s game console which was released in 1994 and became a worldwide hit, the company’s president Tsuyoshi Kodera said “There is nothing I can talk about at this time.” On top of that, he also hinted at something by saying “Our company is always digging up past assets, and I think there are various ways to do it. There have been discussions happening (in the company) on what kind of ways are there.”
Bringing back old assets is an interesting thought – remember that MediEvil, which came out in 1998 on the PS1, is getting a PlayStation 4-remake. Perhaps that’s what Kodera was hinting at, but it’s possible that they could also make a small retro console as well. After all, the PlayStation has a huge line-up with several classics…
