One of the most hidden Capcom games would be Resident Evil 2’s remake, which was announced in 2015… (the other could be Devil May Cry 5)
Rely on Horror published a few rumors about Resident Evil 2’s remake (which wouldn’t be just a major facelift as was the case with 0 and 1). They say that the remake would use Resident Evil 7‘s engine, and the target resolution/frame rate would be 1080p/30 FPS for the ordinary/Slim PlayStation 4, and a native 4K/60 FPS for the PlayStation 4 Pro, respectively, although the latter console would use dynamic scaling to dip in resolution when necessary to maintain the frame rate.
The camera angle would be similar to the one seen in Resident Evil 4 (above the shoulder), but a few scenes could use fixed, cinematic angles instead. Capcom could also leave the „realistic” approach (as Chris Redfield in 7 didn’t look like as we expected), which means Leon, Claire (who is rumored to get extra costumes), and the others might have a bit of a „classical” look, close to their 1998 style.
The game might also be longer than the original, as it would contain new scenes and scenarios (both characters had just two: A and B), and Capcom is rumored to have contracted people who formerly worked on the franchise’s 2 and 4 installments. Could Shinji Mikami (who has created The Evil Within at Tango Gameworks since then), who last year expressed that he’d like to work on Resident Evil, be having a connection to the remake, too?
Rely on Horror closed by saying that Resident Evil 2’s remake would be out at E3, which would be in line with Capcom‘s plans (they will take an unannounced action-adventure game to Los Angeles). We’ll see.
