…and there will be no plan B, either.
Agony is a promising game by Madmind. In fact, even the developers know, which is why they had a trailer that had babies getting eaten, as well as showing a demon whose head slightly (?) resembled female genitalia. Of course, this wasn’t acceptable, and they wrote on Steam that they had to slightly tone down Agony to get a rating from the European age rating board, the PEGI, among others…
„The censorship now affects only several seconds from two endings (out of seven) and some scenes that may be unlocked only after the end of the game. None of the scenes you have seen in the trailers and other promotional materials have been censored at all, and the game will feature those on all platforms,” the devs wrote.
What can we expect, though? The developers say that the censored content will affect only two of the seven available, as well as unblocked scenes after completing the main adventure. We are assured that the gaming experience will be faithful to what has been shown in the trailers.
The developers also plan to publish a comparative video between censored and uncensored versions tomorrow, May 30. Finally, to be as transparent as possible, they have drawn up a list of everything that will be present in the game:
- Gore
- Scenes of brutal sex
- Lesbian and gay sex scenes
- Management of the physics of the genitals
- Puncture of eye
- Heart uprooting
- Heads of children exploding
- Martyrs and demons burned alive
- Intense violence
- Vulgar language
- Drug addicts
And no, sadly, there will be no uncensoring patch, which was planned for a while: „Please bear in mind that leaving this content uncensored would result in the game being banned and us, Madmind Studio, being sued. That would lead to the studio being closed. We don’t want this to happen, and we hope that you understand it,” they added.
You are now warned of what awaits you in hell Agony.
Agony itself is out today on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
