Do you still remember this plan?
Previously, Ubisoft confirmed that the first Avatar game, which launched in late 2009, is going to get a sequel, which will be developed by Ubisoft Massive (The Division), and Ubisoft Stockholm, one of their new studios, for „PC and consoles,” and with Pandora as its location. Lightstorm and Fox are also involved in the project (see the video below), but that’s all we knew about it until now…
„Avatar is one of the biggest and most powerful entertainment brands .. we have great plans for the new one, with a very strong studio and engine. The movie will be released end of 2020, so our game won’t be released before FY21,” Ubisoft said in a statement.
This means that both the movie and the game are at least two years away from completion, as the 2021 fiscal year will start on April 1, 2020. The strong engine also could be a hint that the French company is silently going next-gen with the game, as the PlayStation 5 is likely to hit the shelves by the end of 2020…
