Shadow Of The Tomb Raider: About The Lighting [VIDEO]

Was there ever a game where the publisher and the developer made a video solely for talking about its lighting?

Square Enix and Eidos Montreal have done that. The trailer features Audrey Flammand Lapointe, the senior lighting artist for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. She says that the game’s colors, contrasts, as well as the location of the lights,  were intentionally done so we can understand how Lara feels – with them, we can figure out if it’s a past scene for example. The lights are positioned to point out the shapes, space strategically, and to increase the field of depth, helping us to find the right cover or to see if there are nearby enemies by our instincts.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, unless it is getting delayed, will launch on September 14 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It is going to be the final part of the reboot trilogy, which started in 2013.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
