Destiny 2’s Forsaken DLC Announced; The Details [VIDEO]

Although Bungie‘s game is not as successful as the developers or Activision Blizzard expected it to be, the expansion doesn’t stop.

The dev/publisher duo announced Forsaken. Here are the details from the press release:

„Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness. You and Cayde-6 are sent to investigate the recent unrest personally. Upon arrival, you soon discover the most-wanted criminals in the Prison of Elders have organized an escape. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, you’ll pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long-lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.

Key Features

  • Hunt down the eight Barons and their crew
  • Two new destinations: The Tangled Shore and The Dreaming City
  • A brand-new raid
  • Introducing Gambit, a four-versus-four competitive player-versus-enemy mode
  • Wield new powers with nine additional supers
  • Collect new exotic weapons, armor, and gear
  • All-new weapon archetype, Legendary Bow
  • New story missions, adventures, destination activities, and more.”

Forsaken will require both previous expansions. Buying it separately will cost you 40 dollars/euros; Destiny 2’s Digital Deluxe will be 80, while the Forsaken + Annual Pass bundle will require 70, individually. The Digital Deluxe version will include The Awoken Legend Set (Wrath Majestic Legendary Bow Ornament, Dirge Paladin Emblem, Vestian Ghost Shell, Fireteam Medallions), while the Forsaken + Annual Pass won’t. The Annual Pass „provides bonus rewards and introduces three premium content releases (anticipated in Winter 2018, Spring 2019, and Summer 2019).”

Let’s talk about the Gambit game mode, which is dubbed as an all-new hybrid 4v4 game mode, combining the best of PvE and PvP. Activision Blizzard’s latest financial earnings call (which we discussed as well) talked about this mode. In it, two four-player teams race to summon a Primeval and then „burn it down.” We can send a combatant blocker or one of our team members to halt the other team’s progress. We will be in separate arenas, but we can take a look at the other team before the match starts. Quoting the press release for its features:

  • Fight: Shoot Aliens until they’re dead. Your enemies will get stronger over time, so work together to defeat them quickly.
  • Collect: Pick up the motes that drop when your enemies fall. You can hold up to 15, but you lose them if you die.
  • Bank: Drop your motes in the center structure. Earn a blocker by depositing 5, 10, or 15 motes at once. Summon a Primeval when your team banks 75 motes.
  • Invade: When your bank reaches 25 and 50, you can send one player through a portal to invade the opponent’s arena with one goal: disruption.

Destiny 2’s Forsaken DLC will launch on September 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can look at its website here.
