It’s been a year since the game was announced, but we can finally look at the first screenshots of Pendulo Studios‘ and YS Interactive‘s game.
Blacksad? It’s a comic created by Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido, and it’s published by Dargaud. We can expect an investigation/adventure game, where the protagonist, John Blacksad (who himself is an anthropomorphic, cynical cat), will be seen in 3D for the first time. Somehow, Microids has experience in this genre, as their Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders was a similar game (albeit with a different art style).
„In 1950s New York, Joe Dunn, the owner of a humble boxing club is found hanged. At the same time, Robert Yale, his protege and greatest hope, is reported missing. Although overwhelmed by these terrible events, Joe Dunn’s daughter, Sonia, decides to continue working towards her father’s dreams: she takes over the boxing club and calls on John Blacksad to investigate this mysterious disappearance. It’s the eve of the fight of the year and the club, which is in serious financial difficulties, will not survive Robert’s withdrawal. The investigation will lead John Blacksad to the very heart of a world in which corruption reigns supreme,” the press release says.
Blacksad: Under the Skin will launch in 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and PC. If the developers can at least come close to the detailed and outstanding art style of the comic, they might be having a winner in development.
