CD Projekt RED‘s game intentionally skipped showing gameplay at this year’s E3.
Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the Cyberpunk franchise, told IGN why we still have to wait a while until we see Cyberpunk 2077 in action: „We have an awful lot of stuff that we want to do, and it’s going to take time to do it. And I’m hoping the fans are going to give us the time to do it. If we’re going to do stuff that has never been done before—or has never been done the way we’re doing it—we need space, we need time, and we need the privacy to mull it over.” Pondsmith says that CD Projekt RED‘s vision is close to his ideas, and he believes it was a clever idea to skip the gameplay introduction in June. (Interestingly, they were part of Microsoft’s presentation at the end.)
Cyberpunk 2077 is unlikely to be finished shortly, and thus, we’re not surprised about a previous rumour that it could be a cross-gen title. As Pondsmith said, perfection takes time.
