No joke, Insomniac Games planned more than what they could put into the game!
At the San Diego Comic-Con, Spider-Man received a lot of attention, which is understandable, as his origins are rooted in the comic books. Three of the developers were at a panel (Bryan Intihar (creative director), Jacinda Chew (art director), Mike Smith (the game’s director), and the boss of Marvel, Bill Rosemann, also joined them). Intihar said that there are still villains left to reveal, and one of them is his personal favourite. The original Sinister Six might also reform, too.
Chew told the attendees how they plan to design the villains: „One of the first things we do when we design a villain: look at the history, of what’s already been done before. So, Electro is a great example — with Electro, he’s green, and he’s yellow, but he’s also got this giant star head. It’s one of those things that’s iconic about Electro, but we needed to modernise it. […] So, if you look at Electro, you see we kept that star mask, but now it’s a scar on his face. We also kept the green and yellow and modernised him by giving his powers a reason for being. That’s how we go about designing all the villains.”
Intihar also said that while there are still „a lot” of Spidey suits are left to be shown to the public, they also had sixty more possibilities considered in the past: „At one point […] we printed out 60 different pictures of suits, and we just spread them across a table, and we started doing ‘yes, yes, no, no, maybe, etc.’ We tried to find a good mix between the favorites and maybe some more surprise ones.”
Spider-Man will launch on September 7, as a PlayStation 4-exclusive.
